Ukrainian Minister Gloats Over Donbass Dead - "Let Them Suffer, I Don’t Feel Any Pity For Them!"

A road through a war zone.

People are exhausted. Civilians have to stand in lines for hours. They need a special permit to enter. Complicated verifications are conducted manually.

This is another crossing point. The 2-mile walking crossing through a minefield is the only one in the region. The situation is strained. Some cross to see their families divided by the war, but most of them cross to collect their Ukrainian pensions.

They can also claim the money in the unrecognized republics, on the other side, but people say that this money is not enough for living. This lady's fallen ill. Sometimes people die in those lines.

"Everyone who's pro-Ukrainian has left. Those who want to receive two pension — both here and there — let them suffer. I don't feel any pity for them, I'll tell you honestly. I feel pity for those soldiers and officers and their families who were killed because of those scumbags".

"Is the country that wants to join the EU supposed to treat its citizens this way?"

"Are they citizens of Ukraine? It's not Ukraine that treats them this way. The only way to stop these people from suffering is ending the war. For this, the occupants must leave the territory of Ukraine, that's all".

- Those are the ministers, for now. Is there hope that there'll be any others?

Nikolay Platoshkin, expert on diplomacy: Well, we've been discussing a time span. I remember these same characters saying, 'Give Poroshenko a chance! He's the president for peace. He'll end this war in a month.' You remember all of this. As soon as Poroshenko won, aerial bombardment of the city of Lugansk started. For you, it's a time span, for the people, it's everyday suffering. For how long do they have to tolerate this government? And the most important thing I'd like to say again. Many people say, 'Why do we need the DPR or the LPR?' Are they dependents? This region was feeding the whole of Ukraine at some point. The industrial potential of this region is higher than in many Russian regions. People are forced to trudge along there because no one recognizes this region. And I believe that our next move should be giving out passports to all the Ukrainian citizens. Whoever of them wants it, without forcing. And to recognize at last Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics so that people there start living better. They're suffering there only because of this blockade of yours, not of something else.
