Caracas Stands Firm; US Destroyer Forced to Retreat From Territorial Waters of Venezuela

The Navy of Venezuela forced a US destroyer to leave the territorial waters of the country. According to the official Twitter account of the command of the Bolivarian Republic, a coast guard motorboat headed to intercept it, and after establishing radio contact, the US ship changed its course.

According to mass media, the destroyer entered the country's exclusive economic zone on Wednesday. The next day, it continued to move toward the coast and approached one of the ports in the north of the country.

 

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, with respect to whom Washington imposed personal sanctions, stated that Venezuela is ready to respond to aggression with the help of the national army, the police, and the people.
