Russia Hosts Country-Wide Robot Festival! Young Minds Gather to Show Off Brand New Tech!

Young roboteers from 70 regions of the country presented their work at the Russian Technology Festival in Moscow. Over 5,000 young inventors and scientists participate in it. All of them know for sure what equipment is the planet's future.

Young roboteers from 70 regions of the country presented their work at the Russian Technology Festival in Moscow. Over 5,000 young inventors and scientists participate in it. All of them know for sure what equipment is the planet's future.

Maxim Oparin has the details.

It shows one dance move after another. It looks like the robot is copying somebody's movements. But in fact, it's carrying out a program written in advance. In the dance competition of androids — robots resembling humans — everything is like in a human one. Judges assess the handiwork, how well the robot moves to the beat, and even the artistry. Of course, robots don't only dance here. For example, these are replicas of future Mars rovers. They built special roads for them. They're not only supposed to move, but they're also supposed to complete tasks such as open a valve or obtain a certain object. They created as difficult conditions for the vehicles as possible: they imitated fog and an off-road environment. All of the robots were assembled by the participants by hand.

Vladimir Uslugin, participant of PROFEST: "These wings help it. Using them, it can climb various surfaces".

Here's one of the most difficult tasks. The robot's task is to separate yellow cubes from the ones of a different color and cylinders and take them to the finish line. In the future, this technology will be used to separate waste.

One also can't do without robots in the air. The drone's task is to overcome the obstacle course as quickly as possible. The festival of robotics gathered 5,000 participants from 70 regions of the country this year. They're students who are here to present their best high-tech designs.

Ekaterina Nikitina, organizer of PROFEST: "More than 100,000 people participated in the festival over a period of ten years. One in three received admission to some of the country's leading universities. They're the technology elites of the future".

Some projects could easily be mass-produced today. Students from the Penza Lyceum of Modern Technology and Management came up with this smart desk. It responds to voice commands.

"A person can sit at his desk after a hard day at work, put his phone on top of this wireless charger, and play some music. “Play music.” Here it is. He can put his favorite drink on the heater to heat it up".

Students from Moscow came up with these works of engineering art. They invented a device to check a package's integrity. It can be used in the pharmaceutical industry. An ultra-high precision pressure sensor indicates any breach of packaging.

Vladimir Berman, participant of PROFEST: "Now, about 5% of packages are defective. This device will reduce this number from 5% to 0.4%".

Young inventors will share their achievements for three days. Those that have the most well thought-out projects will receive special scholarships to the best engineering universities in the country.
