In Naberezhnye Chelny, a new plant making KAMAZ and Mercedes truck cockpits was opened today. The level of automation there is the highest in the country. Robots will do almost all of the work there.

Stanislav Nazarov has the details.

On the day of the opening, the enterprise looks like a space laboratory. There are almost no conventional workplaces. The new plant is designed to make 55,000 frames of cockpits per year. The enterprise is almost fully automated. There are even more robots than humans here. The plant occupies a territory of about 750,000 square feet. It was the most large-scale construction project in Tatarstan in the last 50 years.

Sergey Chemezov, Rostec CEO: "The amount of investments in this plant is about 22 billion rubles. Of course, we support this enterprise. And we try to make it the most advanced".

Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan: "At the level of Tatarstan, the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, we'll do everything possible for this project to be successful".

This is an integrated plant. Most of the components and steel, first and foremost, are made in Russia.

Sergey Kogogin, KAMAZ CEO: "The costs, the technology of production are designed to rule out any defects. Expenses are as low as possible".

Thanks to the unique technology, they managed to achieve the perfect geometry of the cockpit. The precision is two micrometers. When the enterprise works at its full capacity, they'll make over 100 different modifications of cockpits for dump trucks and freight trucks of the new generation here.
