Macron May Be Right! NATO Continues to Milk Europe, No Benefit For Anyone Except US!

This week, the British newspaper the Economist published an interview with French President Emmanuel Macron. This resulted in a comment squall on both sides of the Atlantic His most notable quote was him diagnosing NATO with "brain death". And he didn't just tweet something impulsively. He thoroughly and carefully explained his thoughts to the British. While Europe and NATO were worried about money and markets, they lost their common idea and understanding of what the goal is.

"The market is not a community. A community is stronger. It implies having solidarity, a certain unity which we lost, and a political idea".

And America has been only milking Europe, demanding more money for its weapons. And in other respects, it's turned its back on the Old World.

"This is the first time we have to deal with a US President who doesn't share our idea of the European Project and have to deal with an American policy that is at odds with the project. In Syria, we see the consequences: the lender of last resort, the shield, which made Europe stronger, now doesn't maintain its previous relationship with Europe".

Europe itself is experiencing an unprecedented crisis.

"Europe is divided into North and South by economic issues and into East and West by immigration issues, which resulted in the rise of populism in all of Europe. The economic crisis and the migration crisis have severely hurt the middle class... Should we not wake up, in the long term, we will run a significant risk of ceasing to exist geopolitically, or at least, we won't be the masters of our own fate. I strongly believe that this is the case".

It's not the first time Macron has shared his thoughts on doomsday for Europe. But now his leitmotif of doom is becoming more persistent. And very recently, the French president said that an alliance with Russia could become life-saving. Well, let's agree here. But Macron's weak point is that he has no plan on this matter. He doesn't know how to move forward to the dream, and he won't have many allies in this regard. Is it, perhaps, because he only has a dream but no plan? Either way, Macron now diagnoses without hesitation.

"In my opinion, what we are witnessing can be described as NATO's brain death. There is no coordination between the USA and its NATO allies in making strategic decisions. No coordination at all. We are witnessing uncoordinated acts of aggression by a NATO member — Turkey. It's doing those acts on the territory where our interests are at stake. No coordination, no planning with NATO took place".

Macron is right. No one warned or asked him. Let alone other NATO members, the USA doesn't coordinate its actions even with France — NATO's sole nuclear power in continental Europe. Macron needs a plan.
